It's the Most Wonderful time of the Year!

I love this time of year!  Yes, it is hectic.  Yes, it is somewhat crazy!  Yes, it's very commercial.....But underneath all of that is something that is so special to me.  It's a magical time where we anticipate the birth of our savior.  I try to focus on that!  We start our advent wreath/Sunday Night candle lighting 4 Sundays before Christmas.  This year we are doing daily devotions via a Jesse Tree.  I love the music- Oh, Come All Ye Faithful!, and Breath of Heaven (just to mention a few of my favs).  I love to see the lights and the trees (all that come back to Christ- a great book for this is Lisa Welchel's The Adventure of Christmas- tells you all the Christian History of the decorations).  I love baking and this season gives me good reason to bake and spread the good news of Christ's birth!

So, with that...here is the first of our adventures this December celebrating the Season...we went on an evening Train ride to Santa's Village.  We like to call him St. Nicholas around these parts...the kids know that they only get 3 gifts for Christmas (just as Jesus did), so they came knowing what they wanted as their "party favor" for Jesus's birthday celebration....

They were excited to board the train with their cousin....

Snow in California...could it be?  No..it was a machine..but fun to see none-the-less

We tried three gifts the first few years...my husband makes fun of me for it. *sigh* Wouldn't it be nice? We're going to return to it when the kids are older...

Sweet, sweet family memories!
