Shabbat with the D Family
Last week we were invited to share Shabbat dinner with the D fam. It was great, J got home and we walked 4 houses down the share the Friday evening Sabbath dinner with them. The loveley lady of the house lit the candles, prayed in Hebrew, and then we broke the challah bread (which is a favorite of mine and reminds of the countless bar and bat mitzfa's I attended when I was 13), drank wine and shared a great meal along with some great conversation. It was so great to experience such a special tradition with them and introduce our kids to a ritual that Jesus experienced while he was here on earth. I was so moved and touched by sharing this tradition that I asked M to e-mail me the prayers so that I could learn them too. Mar sent me the recipe to the challah and I intend on hosting Shabbat for them someday soon. It was a blessing to my family and I feel so lucky to be able to share it with such amazing friends and neighbors!
