Rest, Relax & Enjoy God's Beauty

Last summer we took a small vacation to Catalina Island.  Our kids loved it and we liked that our travel time was so short and that we were't that far from home. We decided that we'd like to vacation somewhere close to home again this year.  We settled on Bass Lake.  Bass Lake is just 40 miles from Fresno and about a 5 1/2 hour drive from home for us.  We arrived on a beautiful day and enjoyed the next few days just relaxing and taking in the beauty of God's creation.  We felt so far from the hustle and bustle of Southern California.  J left his laptop at home and just enjoyed being with the family for 4 days.  It was a beautiful lake and we fell in love with it!  We hope to return again next year.

We arrived on a Thursday and just watched the kids jump off a dock into the warm, lake water. The kids had a blast and we enjoyed watching them. Friday we drove into Yosemite National Park. I have so many wonderful memories in Yosemite - it kind of brought tears to my eyes. The day was gorgeous. It wasn't too hot. We settled into a beach-like spot near the river. The kids played in the freezing river all day! JT jumped off a big rock, which Curly soon followed. Cupcake and Daddy floated down the "freezing" river over and over again.

We spent the last day lounging around, laughing at the kids (who were fishing with no bait and caught a 2 inch fish) and playing in the lake. We had big plans to rent a boat, but J hurt his ankle (we don't think it's broken, but it is still swollen and bruised as I write this almost a week after the injury occured). Overall, it was a wonderful family trip and we enjoyed ourselves immensely!
