There are days that stand out in your life. The day you first ride a bike without training wheels. The day you walk across the stage and receive your high school diploma. The day you leave home for college or where ever your life is sending you. The day you get engaged. The day you get married. The day you have your child (each one being special if you have more than one). All these days are burned into your memory and nothing you do can change how you feel about these days.
I was recently asked to decide on an anniversary...since Jeff and I have two of them. We tied the knot at the courthouse on December 26th, 1997 and seven months later, we had our wedding on July 11th, 1998. When I was asked to choose a date...I simply answered that I couldn't. Both days are burned into my heart and my memory. Both days have significant meaning to me. Both dates MATTER to me. In December I married the man I love to be a godly woman and follow what I know to be true. In July, I put on my white wedding dress and had my father walk me down the aisle to marry the man I love again, only this time in a church with our family and friends present. I can't choose which is more important. I can't pick one day more than the other. Of course, I count the years starting from that December date...because that is what my marriage license says, but I still consider July 11th a very special day for me! This weekend my amazing sister, Nancy, took my kids for me so that Jeff and I can celebrate our wedding anniversary. We aren't going anywhere. We are staying home. We are going to do fun things together with only each other! Sunday will be 12 years since our wedding day. I love this guy so much and am so thankful for wonderful memories we've built over the last 12 and a half years (18 years together total).
I love you more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow!
Here's to the next several decades together!

Wow! You take amazing pictures. I don't think you should have to pick one day rather celebrate both dates for what the day represented. i.e. legal unity (telling the world), spiritual unity (just between two), family unity (sharing with those you love)
