Good Friday?

Is it really Good Friday?

What I think about today always makes me sad...the pain and anguish Jesus felt the week of his death.  The suffering he endured on that cross.  The mocking.  The torture.  The wounds.  The Blood that was shed, for what?  Did he have to do it?  Couldn't He call upon the Heavenly Hosts to come and rescue him from the pain?  Why?

Then....I remember.  THE VICTORY!  He won the battle that day on the cross.  He paid the ultimate price.  He had victory over my life that day two thousand years ago.  Did he have to do it, Yes HE DID! Did he fulfill prophecy?  Yes, he did. I am reminded on this Good Friday, that Jesus came for me.  He came to set me FREE.  I am Free indeed.

But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5

So as you go about your weekend with bunny rabbits and chocolate eggs, please take a moment to remember the ultimate sacrifice that was done for YOU!  Remember that this holiday is not about Easter Bunnies, Chocolate Eggs, Springtime and goodie baskets.  It is about the NEW LIFE that you have in Jesus!  It's about 1 man dying on a cross for you!

Happy Easter!
