Father-Son Weekend

A tradition (this will be their annual christmas gift - we are tired of the endless "wants" for useless things) we are starting with our children is a weekend alone with Dad (and eventually mom). This weekend is special time that Dad will spend with each of them one on one. JT chose to have his in Oregon going to a Oregon Ducks vs the UCLA Bruins. He has been known to recite a phrase mama taught him: "God must be a Bruin too- because the sun is gold and the sky is blue"! My boy loves the Bruins!

JT got up at 3:30 am today (check out the time on the clock) and dressed himself in full UCLA gear and was ready to board the plane at LAX to Oregon! The boys are having a great time (I sent the point-and-shoot camera with them - so hopefully I will have some pictures to share). So here they are as they are heading out the door:

Go Bruins!

we do 'date nights' --- but I, too, am already dreading the inevitable onslaught of new 'stuff' headed our way this Christmas. So, is this JT's Christmas present early, or something similar? And how will you handle Christmas morning if this is 'Christmas?'

Yes, new camera in today's photos = LOVE IT. But Wednesday night in karate, not so good. Have to figure out low light action shots. Or maybe they just aren't. Don't know yet. LOTS to learn!!!

And finally decided for CERTAIN that I can't do the Nike --- I scheduled a stamping class that day. And 13.1 in the AM and teaching a class in the PM didn't sound like a good idea. I sure did battle back and forth --- even after emailing you, I went ahead and looked at the watch and everything. (Now THAT is a handy little tool!)

And I should have emailed instead of sending this lengthy note.

LOVE 'd week' and boys weekend and Disney birthdays, and etc. etc. etc.

Such a great idea. And how is your family so chipper at 3:00 a.m.?

Great idea of replacing costly meaningless toys with priceless quality time with mom & dad! Your kids will fondly remember those special moments rather than the latest toy trend. We don't give gifts either we use the $ for family trips instead.
