Backpacks.....
I’m pumped to announce that this August, Calvary Church is hosting a backpack/lunchbox drive for Acres of Love and kids living locally in foster care. I know you’re going to be heading out soon to buy new backpacks for your kiddos for school in September. What could be easier than just buying an extra one while you’re at it? OR, if your kids don’t need a new backpack, and the one they have will do the trick, why not go backpack shopping together to benefit a child in need?

The kids at Acres of Love will be starting their new school year in the late fall/early winter, and we want to provide each of the kids with a new backpack and lunch pail. The kids range in age from kindergarten to high school.
In addition, we’ll also be partnering with a local foster care agency to provide backpacks to the kids in their system. Our goal is to collect 500 backpacks and lunch pails. 100 of those will go to South Africa, and 400 will be distributed locally.
Empty backpacks and collapsible lunch boxes will be collected through the end of August! Don’t stuff the backpacks with anything, since the backpacks and lunch pails going to South Africa will be going with E's mom in September and need to fit into suitcases. Let me know if you have any questions… Visit E's website and leave her a comment so that she can e-mail you any information! More details will follow, but if you’re like me and start shopping early for fall, I thought you’d want to know now! And what a great way to get your kids involved in helping other kids!
(by the way...I copied this directly from E's blog...because I am on my out the door tonight...hope you don't mind E)

This is great. I will definitely send some her way!
Perfect timing! I was planning to go shopping next week for school stuff. What a great way to teach the kids about giving. By the way, thanks for adding me to your blog. I'm excited that I can now add you to my very short blog roll! :)
Old friends are the best friends!
