I am still playing catch up....on Thursday my little guy jumped in the car and he was all smiles! JT said to me, "Mom, Mom, I won you something very special!" and I asked him what it was....."Mommy, I won you a diamond!" Of course, my response what "really, wow ,thank you babe!" When we got home and we emptied out his backpack and brought me an official winner notification- my boy had won an essay contest that he had entered to try and win me a diamond- he didn't win me a diamond, but a Garnet! There were 16, 148 entries in this contest this year....my boy was one of the 28 that won a genuine unmounted gem from his school....Here is his essay on why I deserve a diamond:
I wish my mom could go fishing and catch a diamond to put in a wonderful castle.
I asked him why he wrote that and he said he wanted me to live in a castle with beautiful diamonds! He was so happy and proud! He said he wanted me to win and said that not all the kids from his class won, but he was so happy that he did and that he could give me a "diamond". As my running partner wrote on her blog... we will be heading to the jewelers sometime in the next couple of weeks to pick up my gem. I will treasure this gem for the rest of my life and may even share it with the wife or daugther someday!
