Saturday afternoon J and I headed out for a day to ourselves. We couldn't believe it, we worked out all the details to have the entire day to ourselves. We got out the door at 11:30 and headed for the Staples Center to go see Garth Brooks in Concert. When we started dating way back in September of 1992 - Garth Brooks was the man in country music. During our years of dating, we went to see him several times -we saw him in Las Vegas, The Forum, The Hollywood Bowl and the Arrowhead Pond (now the Honda Center). WE LOVED GARTH BROOKS! We were big into country and wore our country duds to every concert (boots, wranglers, belt buckles and hats). So, when we heard that he was doing a concert to benefit the fire victims of So. Cal, we did all that we could to get tickets. Well, we ended up at the 1:00 p.m. show - yes, that's right, 1 p.m.- The Staples Center was pumpin' and the crowd was crazy! He was awesome as always, not as wild and crazy as he used to be, but hey, neither are we! We had a great time and enjoyed hearing all the old tunes that were our favorites when we dated! It was a special day for me and I was so happy to be able to share it with the love of my life!
After the concert, we had a few hours before we had to meet some friends for dinner (see post below), so we decided to head to Venice Beach. J has lived in So. Cal his entire life and has never been to Venice Beach! I couldn't believe it! I came down to Venice numerous times in HS! He couldn't believe how strange the people in Venice were....it was fun to see him experience that for the very first time! We enjoyed walking and holding hands together before the rain came in!
I had an amazing day with my husband and feel so blessed that after 15 years together, I can't get enough of him! It was a great day and I am counting down the days 'til we head to Boston for another stint of alone time! We had a great date!

what a fun day! i am glad to have another friend who loves country music...country lovers seem to be few and far between! matt and i are so jealous of your all day date!
I have tried to find pictures, but can't seem to find any! We love all sorts of music, but country has a special place in our hearts! We used to line dance together every Thursday night at the Red Dog Saloon in downtown Santa Barbara. We even hit the "Cowboy Boogie" a few times (now it's just "The Boogie").
I love that you had such a good day! I just had to post a reply to say that the last time I saw Garth Brooks in concert I think I was with the two of you! Boy was that a long time ago...
